Modelli di insediamento
nel Veneto orientale:
il comprensorio Opitergino-Mottense (TV)
Models of the
ancient settlement in eastern Veneto: the Opitergino-Mottense circumscription -
The area shows ho mogeneus geological and environmental
characteristics; the building transformations of the past twenty years
uncovered several archaeological sites.
Oderzo was an important centre during the paleovenetian period and during
the Roman domination until it was destroyed by Lombards (667 A.D.).
During the Middle Ages the circumscription florished again; it was ruled
by many feudal dominations until it passed to the Venice domination (1338
A.D.), which caused the end of its territorial autonomy.
The distribution of sites on the territory shows typologies of
agricultural installations, particularly spread along the banks of several
rivers, which changed considerably during the past centuries.
Extensive documentary evidence for building structures are supplied. They
can be related to typical Eastern Veneto masonry technics.
